The News 04/12/08
1. Construction or shall we say deconstruction has begun on Landis Green over the past two weeks as sidewalks across the green have been torn up. The remodeling of the green which is designed to bring back the originally layout designed by Ruby Diamond has been met by protesters from local campus organizations who feel the noise and pollution created by this remodel will become a detriment to the campus as a whole. So far these have been peaceful protests and have not interfered with the construction in any way.
2. “Guilty!” that is the verdict handed down by the Jury late Friday evening in the trial of the Jack Flash Duo. After heated testimony and brilliant strategies on both sides it came down to one simple word. The two men now found guilty of multiple charges of manslaughter and other equally heinous charges have been sentenced to 5 life sentences each, with each sentence to be served consecutively. As the two men were ushered out of the courtroom both cries of adulation and disbelief could be heard coming from the crowds which had been showing up in record numbers since the trial began.
3. The newest park in Tallahassee opened it’s “doors” early Saturday afternoon in a quite celebration attended by members of the city council and local business that had a hand in its development. The park which sits on the site of the former Sun Land mental hospital boasts a pond and fountain as well as many shaded areas and open green space for picnics. There is a walking trail and facilities which will be open to the public from sunrise to sunset.
